Modest Mondays: THEY’RE BACK!!

Yes, after a SUPER DUPER LOOOONNG time of non-posting Modest Mondays (and general posting) are back! In conjunction with Raewyn at My Spare Oom. (check her out!)

Here is my outfit for this Monday.

It’s a super casual outfit. Fit for a day in the park.

The pants are from Old Navy. They were a recent find. About $20.

The blouse is originally a dress, but GIIIRRL! That is way to short to be a dress. It failed the pencil test. FAILED. I bought the tunic/blouse/dress from Forever 21. ($12.50) The tee is also from Old Navy. It is super old. You can find a tee of that color at any Wal-Mart, Target, Old Navy type store at any time of year.

The shoes are the best part. CHACOS, Y’ALL!! When the bridegroom in the Song of Songs told his bride “How beautiful are your sandaled feet, O queenly maiden”, I imagine she was wearing Chacos. They are super comfy and super AWESOME. They are an investment though… Kind of expensive.

Stay tuned for next Monday’s outfit (on a Wednesday). I’ll be on retreat (AGAIN. SCORE.) from the 26th to the 31st. I’ll try to write a new post while I’m out. Or a few. They’ll be more reflective. I’ll also try to update y’all on my discernment and lessons I have learned and things I have witnessed this summer.

Pax vobiscum, y’all :)

OHHH AND IN THE COM BOX PUT YOUR PRAYER INTENTIONS. I have a holy hour from 8:30-9:30PM (CST) tomorrow. PAX AGAIN :D

A prayer request for your holy hour: For a safe pregnancy (my fifth), in light of my age (41), and some underlying health issues. Thank-you so much!

    What is the pencil test?

Also, my prayer intention: Pray for my husband, Brett – he has an interview for a teaching job at a Catholic high school on Tuesday.

    • So you’re wearing your dress. You drop a pencil. If your undergarments can be seen when you bend over to pick the pencil up, then the dress fails. I am pretty sure my back could be viewed in what Forever 21 calls a dress. ;) haha It looks super cute as a tunic though. I’ll be praying for your husband.

I see. I think that the pencil test doesn’t even make things modest enough but the tunic is super-cute as a dress.
        Thanks for your prayers!

      • It’s not the most effective test. The pencil test is mostly a joking matter for my friends and me. Haha But I prefer the knee rule. If it is 3 inches above the knee, don’t wear it. :) That’s my personal preference though.

That sounds just about right to me. I go a little longer, but I think I’m a bit older than you are.

      • For me it is right below the knee. But since my school uniform skirts are a bit short for my taste (about an inch above my knee) I have to give a little leeway.

        Makes sense.

  3. Love it! Forever 21 is amazing. :) Can’t wait to see your next MM!
